After a career in marketing and PR, Valerie Michaels now divides her time between producing documentary films and volunteering with adults and children with disabilities as an equine therapist.

Growing up with a sibling diagnosed with schizophrenia has given Valerie a special passion for mental health and affordable and accessible mental health care.

Valerie is also a member of The Josselyn Center’s Auxiliary Board. “It’s an honor to be a small part of what the entire staff and Auxiliary Board are accomplishing,” she says.
In this segment of Take 5 For Mental Health, she shares her perspective on why mental health matters, what we can do to break down stigma, and how she takes care of her mental health.
