Over $50,000 of in-kind and financial support will make horticulture therapy a reality in 2019. Thank you to Midwest Arbor, Garden Consultants, Benvenuti and Stein, Piotrowski Custom Builders for building the garden. We are excited to partner with the Chicago Botanic Garden, The Organic Gardener, Ltd., and the Kenilworth Clippers Garden Club in the development of programming for the space this coming spring!
A therapeutic space, Josselyn’s therapeutic garden will provide the opportunity for sensory exploration and interaction with the natural world. Integrating well within the goals of therapy, gardens have a restorative ability, while connecting people. Further, horticulture therapy promotes physical exercise, builds knowledge, and fosters creativity.
Josselyn’s therapeutic garden is located in front of Josselyn’s Administrative Office at 1779 Maple, which was previously Angles. As part of Josselyn’s Building for Mental Health Campaign, The Center purchased the Maple office, now known as the Kane-Steinback Building. By moving administration offices to Maple, needed office space at 405 Central has been opened up, providing The Center with an increased capacity to deliver outpatient mental health services.
