Uncertainty breeds fear and anxiety, and we are seeing uncertainty’s impact at Josselyn. Our intake staff are responding to more inquires, our crisis counselors are responding to more crisis calls, and our Living Room / Drop In Center volume is up. Josselyn is doing everything we can to support our community and our clients and to provide Mental health for all.

Did you know that Medicaid, the public health insurance program that covers millions of people nationwide, is the largest payor for mental health in the United States? At Josselyn, it represents 80% of our overall billing. It’s unclear how federal budget cuts will impact Medicaid.

Areas that have strong community mental health centers like Josselyn are healthier, more productive, and safer communities. When people have access to mental health care, it improves their chances of maintaining employment, completing educational goals, and raising healthy families.

You can help us ensure that we can continue to provide mental health care to our most vulnerable neighbors. Today, Thursday February 6, is National Day of Action to Protect Medicaid.

There are two easy ways you can help.

Call your Congressperson today using the National Action Line: 866-426-2631

  • Enter your zip code when prompted to be connected to your Congressperson’s office.
  • Tell them your name and that you are a constituent.
  • Tell them “Do NOT cut Medicaid. No cuts. No caps. No work requirements.”
  • Thank them for the call and for their service.
  • Encourage your friends to do the same.

Please donate to Josselyn today so that we can strengthen our reserves in the event of Medicaid cuts or delays in payments.

On behalf of the 8, 000 clients Josselyn serves, thank you very much for your support.  If there is one thing of which I am certain, it is my gratitude and appreciation for you.

Yours in good health,

Susan Resko
CEO and President
